Even in a city I've lived in over twenty years (not consecutively) there are things that surprise me. There are fantastic restaurants I've never even heard of. Where I lived in East Palo Alto, there was a small convenience store right next to my apartment block: La Tiendita.

And they had - in addition to the spanish-only butcher's counter - an in-house taqueria. Which was good enough at tacos to define the concept for me.

I feel the same way about Spanish. I took three years of it in highschool and a semester of it in college, not to mention the 20+ years I spent living on the texas/mexico border. Still, spanish has a lot of heavy negative connotations for me because of my past experiences. We talked about that some at the last game, I think. Still, if ya wanna practice spanish with me I think that'd be pretty damn cool :).

Adios guer(rer)a ;)

Nah, it's cool. I don't have enough Spanish these days to practice with (except for cursing, which is not so useful as I'd think). It's on my I should do this someday list 'cause shit I ought to be able to talk to all my relatives.

Oh hell yeah. I was just saying (with my mouth full of carnitas and cilantro and salsa caliente) "I'm so glad I live in Texas." Not that I didn't love Seattle when I lived there, but they didn't really get Mexican food.
