Oh Shit It's Polanski Again
Note: The words in bold below the quote have been edited. It was pointed out in comments, correctly, that I used words that refer to diagnoses of mental illness and, to my knowledge, Polanski has not been so diagnosed. Those words, when used casually, are often hurtful to those of us who live with mental illness. I apologize for having used those words in such a way as to add to the already-enormous stigma people with mental illness live with.
Yup, another day, another goddamn Polanski post. This is the rape culture, folks. When a man can use his professional reputation to get close to multiple girls and young women so he can rape them, evade lawful justice and say shit like this immediately after skipping bail, live like a prince in France (oh, the horror!) for thirty years, and have people say oh, you poor, poor man you have been so ill treated! when the authorities finally catch up with his law-flouting ass after the French government refuse at least two known extradition attempts? That's pretty much exactly what the rape culture is. Rapists matter. Rape victims do not.
