Facebook Fear

Jul 13, 2010 11:33

Apparently, I'm the only one with a abnormal fear of Facebook.

I don't care what others say, I'm terrified each time I go on.  I think it's because I hate establishing relationships online.  Hate it.  I love face-to-face conversations, thus why I'm not good at texting as well.  If people try to contact me over and over again, I just can't stand it ( Read more... )

If you really do feel that way, I'm puzzled with the fact that you have a LiveJournal.

It's the family and friends thing. I love writing, but when it comes to relationships, I suck. Guess I didn't explain that well in the entry. Facebook just simply frightens me because I don't want to talk to be people I know. Maybe I'm afraid I'll slip up and say something stupid.

Slipping up and saying stupid things is what communication and life in general is all about, so I see no reason to be as terrified of it. ;D

Of course, everyone has their own tastes. And if Facebook doesn't suit yours, you shouldn't have to force yourself to do anything with it.

Ah, the charm of the interwebz. ;D

It's more of a problem of severing my ties with family. But yeah, I guess I'll just have to realize that's a part of life--just little mistakes that we can learn from.

It took me about 2 years to get a Facebook account, partly because of a reason completely opposite from yours: I was more afraid my existing friendships would evolve into something that existed only over the Internet.

I would choose a face-to-face talk any day. But Facebook is useful for perhaps seeing who's in the mood to talk to, and for things to talk about. I still make it a point never to talk over Facebook to my family because it defeats the purpose of all of us living in the same house (in my opinion).

That's interesting. So you were afraid it would distance you and your family. With me, we are already so distant (friends and family in other states/countries, I mean), so I'm scared of getting too close, maybe.

Face-to-face is the best way to speak to someone, in my opinion. Then I know how they really are feeling, I can hug them, smile. But, I see what you mean when you say Facebook is useful.

LOL, it would defeat the purpose if you all lived in the same house, huh? That's funny.

Sooooooo.... you mentioned not having read the main Blue Beetle series...

And O HAI! Look what I tripped over on the interwebz~ Issue 1-16 of blue Beetle? Well, I already own that in trades, but I'm sure you'll find someone who could try this themselves and see if they enjoy it? (and buy the trades if it tickles your fancy?)

Oooh, and what's this? Issue 16 features the Infamous Dentist scene? How convenient, since I usually recommend that people read at LEAST to that point, since I was irrevocably in love by then! :P

Sorry for posting this on your journal, but seems rapidshare only has 10 DLs for this and I think RB prefers it not being posted there.

Oh my goodness, you're awesome! Thank you so much. Downloaded and set. Thanks again!

Eh, post here all you want. It's like a ghost town most of the time, anyway.

I'm interested in this series now, so I'll probably buy it next time it shows up at a con. Again, thank you. I can never find these things...

Look at this shiny new thing! :D
Seems like a series where if you wanted a more serious teen titans cartoon, it looks promising! (Though no Raven or Cyborg et al) I admit though, the big reason I'm excited is because apparently Greg Weisman, the creator of Gargoyles is involved, and goshdarnit, I'm old enough to remember when that was on TV >_>

OMG! GAH! You're awesome. Weisman is helping this along? Then it's has to have a good storyline. Otherwise, I'll loose faith. Don't worry, most of us still remember Gargoyles. Those were the days...

I don't remember Robin being part of Young Justice, but I guess they have to have him in there. Miss Martin is going to kick ass in that show.

But does it seem...weird that Aqualad is the only one who is, uh, not white? I know I'm being picky and such a pest, but I grew up reading the comics where Aqualad was pale with ebony hair. Suddenly, that's almost literally reversed (this new one has off-white hair and dark skin). It just seems like he's a token, or something. Unless I'm missing something from the comics where he comes back as a black dude.

But, HOT DAMN! They're going to kill off the characters?! AAAAHHH! I'm worried for Miss Martian and Aqualad. She's always been easy to kill off (then bring back). AND I SAW SHAYERA HOL IN ONE OF THEIR PANELS!

Thanks so much for sharing that with me.
