I don't know man COMICS OUR MAJOR

I had my last class ever with one of my favorite teachers today. We watched a documentary about independent comics creators that was pretty hokey, but at the same time has really got me in a weird place thought-wise - I guess because they talked to people like Wendy Pini and Carla Speed McNeil, who basically said "I self-published because I had no ( Read more... )

my comics, my bleak future

You damn well know how many people are online putting up a comic and doing well, selling it directly to their fans and going to cons. I told you how excited I was when I stumbled onto Octopus Pie at NYCC. :P The internet is the single greatest thing to happen to comics; it completely cuts out the middleman and you have complete and utter control over your medium and how the public sees it. The problem lies in you and if you can handle it, which I think you already are showing you can!

oh no don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting the internet D: I AM doubting myself. It's really intimidating, and times like this I stand back and have to ask myself if I think I have what it takes to succeed.

You can handle it! Octopus Pie girl and I were talking about how crazy it was, and she still can't believe she has a huge fanbase. DO EET.

Go for it! If publishing your story is the reason you got into comics, then you got to pursue that goal to the very end. BELIEVE IN YOUR PROFESSOR WHO BELIEVES IN YOU!

Oh man, Reman Mythology. I found that AFTER she got picked up by the devil Tokyopop, and I still kinda feel like, as obviously young as Reman Mythology is, it was still better (a lot less forced into a mold, in my opinion) than her TP series ever was.

Which was incredibly forgettable, is what it was. I couldn't even tell you what it was about anymore.

Work hard, you jerk. If anyone can manage, you can!

I haven't read S&S but I can bet you it's because she cared about Rema more ;;; that kind of thing shows whether you want it to or not

;3; also thanks;;;;

ew elfquest....

honestly, since your story isn't like 37 volumes long, isn't it totally fine to do that and look ahead? after you finish it, you'll have this huge awesome accomplishment, and then you can go wherever you want from there-- either spin-offs for fanbase, or do whatever else it is that would be "easier if you weren't married" to your story. since you know you have an endpoint, i don't think you'll change your mind in a decade since you'll probably be...done by then :y

ok well elfquest is a great example regardless :( she got turned down by DC and Marvel, decided to self-publish and sold 100,000 copies PER ISSUE and was eventually republished by both DC AND Marvel

*3*;; it's so weird, because part of me is always like "I want to do this forever" but the other part of me is like "I'm not gonna say that when I'm 40" but WHO KNOWS?? anyway it was realizing that I probably wouldn't be able to write the same thing at 40 that made me realize I have to start now;;; which is why I am
