Rating: PG-13 at the most? (In case someone wants to throw a punch or curses like a sailor?) Warnings: First post (and RPG attempt) for me, so be prepared.
[reaction] 2/3 almost...sternitfortemSeptember 26 2011, 03:53:53 UTC
[ It's been a long time since Juudai's seen Jim. Or, well, it feels like a long time. Two months in their world, and two here in Kannagara - does Kannagara time count? Four months total since Juudai watched that ship shrink towards the horizon. He'd kept in touch with O'Brien, met up again with Johan, but Jim -
With Jim, at that time, it had been hard.
At that time, Juudai still wasn't ready to say the kinds of things that needed to be said. So this is a good thing. One of the best things you can get, really.

[ The video clicks on. Juudai waves at the screen. ]
Jim!
[ The blue sky behind Juudai is filtered through a slight haze: the mists that permeate Mizusato. He has a fishing pole in hand - surprising no one - and the sounds of a waterfall rush in the background, though not so loudly that it's difficult to hear. ]
Don't panic, but you're not on Earth anymore. [ Is this a good way to ease Jim into the "guess what? you're in another dimension again! but a nicer one!" revelation? Hopefully. Maybe starting off with "don't panic" was a bit obvious. ]

[ At the familar voice, the same one that he was worried about, Jim felt a utter wave of relief wash over him.
Judai was okay.
He hadn't been able to keep in contact with him. Sure, he knew the reasons. He knew it'd be hard on Judai after everything that happened. Not that it wasn't hard on him, too, but he'd learned to accept what happened then. In a way, he had to.
So now...he really could find much to say but... ]
[video] 2/2: Okay...~eyeofamiracleSeptember 26 2011, 04:13:16 UTC
[ Once the knowledge that Judai is fine sunk into his mind, he offered the screen a smile and a nod. ]
I kinda figured that this isn't Earth.
[ He takes another glance around. It seems the more time he spends here, the more bizzare it feels to be here. Knowing full well that Judai might be a bit concerned about the fact Jim's in another dimension, he only smiled. ]
It's...a nice place here. Would you mind telling me what you know, Judai?

[ Of course, Juudai's been here for a couple months now, so he's got a very good grasp on the goings-on of Kannagara; judging by Shou's face the last time he'd tried to tell everything all at one in a single reply, though, probably best to work it all in gradually. ]
Basically, where we are is this big, uh... [ oh man, he'd had a really good way of explaining it the last time, why can't he remember it, it was so good... ] It's this big kind of... Well, it's another world, but we're brought here by the gods in charge here. The Shinto gods from our world, though I don't know if that's a coincidence or what. There are a lot of other people here who've been brought here from other worlds completely unrelated to our own

[ Jim remains calm, eye narrowed in thought as he listens attentively to Judai's words. As the word sinks in, he scratches the hair underneath his hat. His hand travels to where his bandages are, and he holds in there, almost as if it holds the answer underneath

I'm doing fine.
[ The reply comes as automatically as it always does, to the point where it's not really a sentence that means anything; it's just something you say, an easy pre-set phrase to reply with, something simple and ritualistic. Something that makes your life normal again, if only for the second it takes to say it.

[ And then Juudai sets his fishing pole down, puts his hands behind his head, and puts on his best cocky face. ]
You know, we all have got this really nice house up here in Mizusato. It's a village up on the northeast coast, on these islands across the bay. There are all these streams, and lakes, and waterfalls going down to the sea... it's really nice. We do have room for one more...
Then again, I'm sure Karen would hate it here, what with all the natural hot springs, and the mud holes...
[ For some reason, Jim expected Judai to respond that way. With a laugh, he raises an eyebrow at the screen, chuckling at Judai's expression. ]
Kaiser told me a little about Mizusato. Sounds like a nice place.
[ He can't help but chuckle. Out of relief? He assumes its the right emotion right now to express.
Glancing down at Karen, he smiles. ] What do you think, Karen? You up for staying with Judai and the others? Maybe we can find an area near the lakes and waterfalls for you to relax at..?
[ He knows she'll follow him regardless of where, and surely he'd find a way to provide a suitable habitat for her for the time being. Its only fair, and he'd expect no less then her being content. ]
Well, if you really do have room for one more - and Karen, of course - you can count me in, Judai.
[ Juudai picks up his fishing pole again and starts reeling it in to check the bait. ]
Looks like I've got extra dinner to catch. I'll send you the coordinates - there's a map on the Hitomi that's a lot like a GPS. [ Even though they have no satellites, so... actually, don't follow that thought up, it's way too unsettling. ] See you then!
- Jim and Karen?? ]
