I know we only talked a couple times, but -
[ But he thought Iruka would remember that call in the first week Juudai was here, when he was still afraid and nothing had become familiar yet, when he was scared to be alone in a land full of strangers. When Iruka had asked -

[Iruka answers softly after a while, patiently and apologetically. He does not forget a face, especially young ones. It is crucial for him to never forget a face, so no matter how long he stares at the little screen, Iruka cannot recognize Juudai's face.]
I don't.
[He adds.]
At the moment. Perhaps if you told me when we talked and what about, I can remember you better?
[And of course, like always, encourages and tries not to leave the other party feeling... disappointed. Gives them hope.]

[ He doesn't remember. Juudai knows - sometimes people go away, and come back with no recollection of their time here. Of the bonds they might have made or broken.
(He remembers eyes of fire and earth boring into his - and then memories flooding back in like ink and color onto a white canvas, or more properly like something blocking him had been stripped away - )
But it's one thing to speak with someone until they are no longer a stranger.
It's another to try to correct this all at once. ]
