[dream 04] for I am the Caesar [week 2, day 2]

Feb 26, 2010 00:31

You're running, running even through the clenching hitch in your side, the burning in your throat and the fact that your feet have gone numb; through all this, you run.

The landscape is a mixture of city and forest; in the way of dreams, the worlds of Kannagara and the ghettos are melded together, and this is not abnormal. You run past trees grown into skyscrapers and fields of flowers littered with broken cars and blasted pipelines dripping water and rust. This is all processed on the periphery - what's important is that you are running.

Two reasons: one, you are absolutely certain you are searching for something, though (in the way of dreams) you don't know what it is; and two, you are followed.

This is not immediately obvious. You only become aware of it through a growing sense of unease that gradually blossoms into panic. Meanwhile, the street-paths of the Kannagara-city grow narrower and twistier, until you are navigating a labyrinth of roots and pipes and dead-end alleys, and the longer you run, the more certain you are that whatever is chasing you hates you, wants to kill you, will do something terrible to you once it gets its hands on you, and the only way to stop it is to find what you are searching for.

The panic is overwhelming now; it rattles in your chest when you gasp for breath and chokes all thought of anything but escape -

Until a hand comes down on your shoulder.

A huge hand.

And a voice, the voice belonging to the hand, crashes down like the thunder of a god:

LELOUCH -

[ Lelouch jerks awake in a sweat, his heart pounding as if he really had been running that fast, that long.

He jumps up and restlessly walks to the door.

There is a pause. The video feed shows nothing for a bit, and then his footsteps can be heard much more loudly and urgently rushing back before the feed cuts. ]
