Sorting through what to offer for yuletide (so much harder this year than requests) I remembered why we only managed to get halfway through our Season 2 Maria-sama ga Miteru DVDs and won't make it to the extra seasons

It gets better? It really does and I think that it was the point of the second season that no one has learned anything and it gets at least partially sorted out by the end. Unless you mean the well-intentioned meddling in other people's affairs like with Sachiko and the play, or Shimako and Noriko. That never really goes away, though it is toned down a little. It is much better in the novels, but the translations skip a few volumes here and there.

I might try again, then? I was just getting so depressed, and starting to really, really hate Sachiko. Whhhhhhy couldn't Yumi marry Sei? Sei actually understands her and treats her well!

Yumi couldn't marry Sei, because Sei gets a girlfriend (or that's how I interpret it). But yes, Sachiko learns to treat Yumi better.

The girl with the glasses and the seriously tolerant attitude? Kei, I think? I liked her. :)
