Just got back from waterbirth class. It was really really good, and very reassuring about my chances of actually having one despite my arm-long list of medical issues, but also hilarious because of the other parents attending ( Read more... )

I suppose they will also be disappointed when their baby comes out as a newborn and not a three-month-old infant such as usually play the "newborn" roles on TV!

You should have seen their faces when they were told to bring their own sieve in case the mother excreted in the water. The realities of childbirth and children are clearly not their strong point.

I got to attend my oldest niece's birth. While it was easily one of the best moments of my life, I did have a moment of like 'wow, birth is messy' (as they were vigorously toweling off the baby). Still- I know sometimes things like babies aren't planned for, but reading! That poor kid of theirs, being born in Calgon.

I was amazed how many people seemed to have booked into the class without having done basic research themselves. But, hee, yes... poor kid.
