MT and LJ

You'd think, what with LJ becoming one with SixApart, that there'd be an easy way to have your MovableType journals appear on LJ... you'd think. But so far, it seems not possible. Anyone know if I've missed something easy to that effect?

Otherwise, it's the link clicking...

If you want your MT entries to appear in LJ, there is a way to make an RSS feed for LJ, so that LJ users who subscribe to the feed can view your entries on the friend's page. However, you would still have to log into LJ to see comments.

Is that what you were thinking of or did you have something else in mind?

But yes, it would be nice if they could integrate MT and LJ together. They're very different communities though so integrating them into a single system might not work out anyway. I've heard rumors that Six Apart is trying to bring in some LJ features into MT, such as friends-lock, etc., but I have no idea if that's true.

Doing some quick digging... is it the syndication thing they speak about? That would probably work -- I have a site that'll shred the RSS feed from my blog and that could be put inside a message on LJ (so long as it lets you do full html in post bodies), then the RSS feed/syndicaton thing would take care of having my posts showing up in people's friends shredder. This almost sounds complicated... :P

While trying to put both togther in a forced merge would probably be messy, just having the option would be nice. }:)

Yes, it's the syndication thing they mention in the FAQs. You could create one or two for whatever sites you want to syndicate and then have your friends subscribe.

I took a quick peek and it doesn't seem too complicated, but you do need a paid account to create the feed.... I don't know that you need to keep paid status to keep the syndication going though either.

I think this is the entry you want - http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=137 - but you should probably poke around.
