Camera Repair Shop?

Hey there. My Canon 5dmkII is dying on me (specifically it's getting the ERR 80 shutter issue for you curious photo kids). I'm looking to find a local shop that does repairs. I'm outside of Canon's warranty (though American Expresses will reimburse me) so this doesn't need to be an authorized repair center or particularly cheap. For speed's ( Read more... )

Have you tried Crick Camera on 75th and Stateline? That's who I usually go to. IPAS is cool, but they're kind of flakey.

Turns out that no camera shop in town will work on a DSLR. They all will just send it to Canon for you. So I ended up sending it off to Canon in Virginia. Now we start the era of 'Hey can I borrow your camera tonight'. :)

Well, I was going to mention this place in Kansas that repaired my Canon DSLR back in '08. I think I found them in the phonebook: http://kansascity.citysearch.com/profile/37163935/shawnee_mission_ks/electronic_services_inc.html They were very friendly, and I thought the price was fair.

Thanks for the heads up. Did they do the work in house or ship out your camera? What was wrong with it?

It was done in-house, took about a week. I broke the CompactFlash reader by jamming the card in the wrong way.
