legit data entry

Apr 28, 2011 14:09

i've got three years of data entry experience, and am looking for a legit data entry job.. not one of those fake work from home ones or something. i don't even know where to look anymore, as the job i had was through a temp service three years ago (obviously checking with those as we speak).

any ideas? thanks!

Have you checked with the local banks? UMB, Commerce?
I would suggest the IRS, but since tax season just ended, they might not be hiring.

I'm also job hunting. It seems like CareerBuilder.com does a good job of covering the IT business around here.

Monster has simply gotten too annoying, although I have, at least, posted a resume there.

I hate monster now...I get nothing but phone calls from "farms" and agencies...I would do CareerBuilder.com or go to actual company sites and apply there. Try HR Block, IRS, American Century.. for entry level jobs.. Good Luck.

careerbuilder is okay so far, keeping in mind that i've been applying over a weekend and wouldn't be hearing back from anyone yet. it sort of bothered me that they now have an option where you pay to get your resume seen more prominently now -if i had a job/cash flow, i don't know that i'd be using the service to begin with.

thanks for the suggestion, and good luck, yourself!

I've been doing 699 work recently, the old Data Entry jobs like we had 10-20 years ago don't exist near as much as they used to, they did actually morph into those weird work from home things. It's not just call centers that have been outsourced, due to the skyrocketing insurance rates, a lot of companies farm out the work that they can to specialized companies. Earlier this week I was working for a company that had me building bikes in sports stores in another state. It keeps the sporting store from having to staff anyone that can build bikes, and as someone who already knows the calculus of derailleurs and brake adjustments, I can be put to work doing just that for 10-12 hours a day without anyone having to worry about paying me workman's comp or even basic unemployment insurance ( ... )

my main problem is figuring out which ones i can actually trust. i actually got my previous job through a temp place advertised on craigslist three years ago, but it's gotten harder, in my opinion, to figure out what's actually legit and what isn't, *especially* with the work from home ads.

UMB usually has some weekend data entry stuff posted if you're still looking.
