I tried to make a joke out of this but I just can't. It's too beautiful of a picture.

I mean, technically, I could, but TASTE, taste must previal.

I agree! It captures something inexplicable.

awesome picture though. and a totally surreal time and place in world history. even weirder when you consider that for the most part, Japan KNEW going in to the war that they had about a two-week time frame in which they could actually accomplish anything before all hell would break loose, and if they exceeded that time frame, well, they were done for. yet they still kept going.

what would have happened without the bomb(s) being dropped?

well... some say, the bat bomb could've been as effective and far less costly with regards to human life. google it if you haven't heard of it.

Haha. Well said.

And I agree. It's quite amazing. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Mishima but recently I've begun to [re-read] some of his work. Anyway, he deals with [to a certain extent] the aestheticization of Seppeku. To me it's rather unbelievable that someone could be this committed to 'duty' and 'honor ( ... )

I'm not a huge fan of sake, but I've only really tried it once.
