Since it was so awesome outside today, I drove up to Delaware State Park and took a random trail. I had hoped that the marina might be open already, but no luck - and it appeared that they were draining the lake anyhow. It was about 4-5 feet low but there were still people puttering around in pontoons and fishing off the rocks ( Read more... )

"Now it's time to take the Mosin out and enjoy some shoulder-dislocating cannony goodness! :)"

Wheeeee! I'm up for some outdoorsy plinking.

I knew they re-opened the state ranges sometime in March, but I wasn't sure when.

Man! We can't find an "open to the public" outdoor range anywhere near here. Envy! Also, forests.

That is one neat thing about Ohio: rifle ranges in some State Parks - not to mention it's only $25 for a seasonal pass, or five bucks per day.

This place looks like they have a really nice setup, but alas, it seems to be membership only.

There is a little bit of foresty goodness around here, but you have to drive to it.

I'm jealous. I wish I had the motivation/means/friends to go hiking with.

Pfft. I wish I had real hills/old-growth trees/giant-moss-covered boulders/ferns-as-high-as-your-waist to go hiking to. I miss Ohiopyle. :(

We should go out there sometime while I am there. That would rule! Maybe I could finally see Fallingwater...

That's OK, we can take all day to go to the overlook, which is about 3.5 miles in from my favorite parking spot, and is TOTALLY worth the hike for. It's the only real scenic overlook on the Laurel Highlands trail, and it's probably my favorite secret hiking place. :) But even the walk there is pretty so it's all good. I usually take a sammich.
