Vicodin works pretty well. I was able to handle work today without any discomfort in my thumb, and without any stress in my head. Everyone seemed particularly sociable and contented today. So far, so good

Coming to visit Finland? Do you have a particular reason to visit exactly next month (like some festival or something..)? How do you like this country in general? (I sometimes hate the place having to live here and never have the chance to go anywhere else until I'm like middle-aged... It's the goddamn cost of living and the high taxes)
And is your thumb getting any better? I have a neat scar in my index finger and it doesn't look that bad anymore and doesn't hurt. Though it still doesn't function properly and I'm all the time afraid to use it even when there's no reason for that. :D
I usually try to time summer visits to festivals like Tuska, Ruisrock, Nummirock, etc. :) There are so many that I can usually have time to see two. If I could live there, I think I could manage easily - I'm used to living on a small salary so I don't think that would bother me. I don't have a lot of huge expenses except for putting enough money aside to go to Finland every couple of years... I guess that is my only really expensive habit!
Someday I'll get it right and find a way to not return. I really want to live there for a few years, just to see the differences from the US. Even if I end up disliking the system, at least I would still become more fluent in Finnish. :)
I still keep my thumb in a splint. It still hurts to touch anything with it, but it isn't so achy anymore, and most of the swelling has gone. The nail and surrounding skin are about six different shades of purple and black though, so it looks a lot worse than it feels!
