Drabble - Beginings

Mar 15, 2011 17:55

Almost 30 years ago, I saw a woman. Lithe, graceful, gorgeous. Charming, and smiling all the time. I wondered if she was nicer than the average sort of person who came to these parties. Nicer than the crooks and the thieves, the whores and their pimps. I had to find out.

I could put on my charm too, in those days, and as I approached, I smiled at her, extending a hand. “I’m Vincent-”

She cut me off, smiling like she had a secret. “The lawyer. I know. I’m Madeline. A pleasure to meet you.”

I had to have her.
