This definitely leaves a bit of a lump in my throat. I so adore this friendship, and I wish the writers would give it a little more time. (It's like Dee and Gaeta. Come on guys, just a little more on-screen interaction that isn't in the deleted scenes?) I love this- the deep love they have for each other but that feeling that they're growing apart and their jealousies, and that Mercedes is mature enough to realize it's not necessarily Kurt's (or her) fault, but circumstance. It also really shows you how "I am single and fabulous" Mercedes can just be really wanting to have a boy ask her to the Prom and the night to be Cinderella. (Especially since OS was pretty much Kurt's Cinderella moment.)

Lovely!

Oh man, the BSG comparison got me. Now I'm even sadder. I really feel for Mercedes, and I get where she's coming from. It's tough, seeing all your friends happily paired off. I'm torn as to whether I want this to be canon (yay for Mercedes storyline!) or not (yay for angst-free Kurt-Mercedes!)

Thanks!!

I really enjoyed this. It really hits that feeling of trying to be a good friend while also being uncomfortable (jealous, possessive, whatever), and being uncomfortable that you're uncomfortable.

I loved your Mercedes POV and I thought the parallel jealousy you created between Kurt and Mercedes was brilliant.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much! Being uncomfortable that you're uncomfortable is the perfect summary--and it's such a hard emotion to get through because of that feedback loop. I'm really glad the Mercedes POV worked well. It was my first time writing from her POV, and I really enjoyed it.

Thanks again for reading!

Wonderful and adorable and funny. That's exactly how I imagine that conversation going.

Thanks so much for reading!

Well, Blaine is a very touchy-feely kind of guy. ;)

MY HEART. ;____; You captured their dynamic so well. I'd always wondered how Mercedes might feel when Kurt officially got together with Blaine, after shaking her head at the couples from the sidelines with Kurt for so long. That was really not explored well in "The Substitute", but I love that you incorporated the events and emotions of "The Substitute" here, but also brought further depth to Mercedes' feelings. Just lovely. ♥ Especially the bit where Kurt had a moment where he felt the same- about Nationals in New York- and Mercedes couldn't help but be a bit relieved. Very realistic, and just the right amount of sadness and sweetness.

Thanks so much! Yeah, "The Substitute" had really interesting ideas for Kurt-Mercedes, but I think the tots muddled it a bit. And I'm so glad you picked up on Kurt's moment of uncomfortable "I want to be happy for you but I can't yet" about New York--I really wanted to draw a parallel there, but it was hard to do it from Mercedes's POV.

Thanks again for reading!
