Odd Beta Request
I'm looking for a beta for a Glee fic. It's kind of an odd situation.
I had an odd fic bunny bite hard a few months ago, which led me to ask (and receive) permission from mary_flanner to write a fic set in her Scholars and Gentlemen 'verse. (Said bunny involved an awesome OC of hers and a plot development that I'm way too much of a weenie to do on my own.) Three things have happened to delay its posting: 1) real life is being a real bitch lately; 2) for some reason, I decided to write in present tense (something I almost never do); and 3) for some reason, this fic just won't stop growing (something that is pretty par for the course).
So, that means I'm looking for a beta for a long fic that draws from another author's fairly substantial pre-existing universe, but mostly to make sure I caught all the places where I started slipping into past tense, not so much to look at how it fits into the aforementioned 'verse. I feel pretty solid on that front; there may be some timeline fudging, but I think I'm doing all right. I don't think that a beta would have to have read the S&G 'verse to beta because of what I'm looking for, but at the same time, it might not be that fun to read this fic if you're not familiar with the 'verse, you know? I don't want to put anyone in a not-fun place, especially with a fic this long. (I just passed 8K words. I think I also just passed the 1/3 point in my outline. Yes, that long.)
That's where I'm at. I figured I'd start looking for a beta early, since this is a weird request. If I don't find anybody here, that's perfectly cool, too. I can always try the beta services post at kurt_blaine. I just figured I'd try here first. :)
