No Indigo Girls? I have another video to make with one of their songs someday.

I know so little about music but I was pleased to find I know some of the artists and songs here! So get ready for long comment!

I don't know who Neko Case or Lady Gaga is. Wouldn't recognize them if I bumped into them on the street. I feel I should but I don't. I sort of live under a rock, particularly regarding music.

Most music I find through fan vid. Yup. Love Hide and Seek and the two BSG vids to it. Have you seen them?

Cold, Cold Water. Oh my God. One of the first Kara/Lee vids I ever saw was to this song and the song will always be imprinted with my ship and BSG for me. The drums. The drums are epic. I love it ( ... )

Ooh, Indigo Girls--good call!

Lady Gaga is kind of like a modern-day Madonna, so yeah, she's one most people would be familiar with. Neko Case isn't--I adore her, but her music isn't mainstream enough as either country or rock/pop to get radio play on normal-format stations. (ETA: Ooh, I know why you think you should know Neko Case! She sang "Widow's Toast," which chaila43 used in that Kara-Scar vidlet! You do know her ( ... )

I may know Lady Gaga's music. I mean I should if I'm alive and breathing. But I know nothing else. Not her story, where she came from, what sort of music she sings, what her natural hair color is, nada.

I love music that tells a story. :-) So I should give you some links!

Here is a post about vids to the same song. The two Hide and Seek vids are linked there ( ... )

Thanks for the link! I'll have to check some of those out.

I'm not terribly interested in vids for fandoms I don't know--I've tried it, and I just don't get much out of most of them--but I do know enough about Smallville that I'd like to see how that one works with "Samson," if you've got a link. ;)

Brilliant list. You have a bunch of artists here that I've never heard of and some old favorites too. I'd second The Indigo Girls and add Patty Griffin, both of whom are amazing live performers.

I love that you included Patti LuPone. Her Evita is amazing, definitely one of the best performances in a musical ever. Her little guest spot on Glee was so cool.

Ooh, I'm not familiar with Patty Griffin. I love discovering new-to-me music. Thanks so much for the rec!

I had to put at least one Broadway baby on the list, and Patti LuPone consistently knocks things out of the ballpark for me, so she seemed like a great choice.

I kovelovelovelove "Into the West." *hugs it and pets it and call it George*

I had a friend in college who wanted to peel grapes for Diana Krall :-)

Lady Gaga is a wonderful guilty pleasure. And I'm fairly indifferent to the Dixie Chicks musically, but their politics Rock.

(Oops, missed this comment earlier!)

There's a lot of LotR music I love, but that one is my absolute favorite.

Yep, "guilty pleasure" is the perfect way to describe Lady Gaga. I dance around to the music enough that I can't feel that bad about liking it. :)
