i'm never really sure why i decide to write in this bog or my other one on any given day. i think i keep my more complicated thoughts in my other one now. it just kind of happened that way...

The point of the college tuition discussion isn't that people who currently can't go at all would be able to go while you and I would be left with the same opportunities we have right now. The point is that people who can't go at all should have the opportunity, and people like you and me who had to slave and scrimp to make it work shouldn't have to. It's not about making it easier for the poorest percentage of the country and keeping it the same for everyone else--the idea is that EVERYONE has the right to a college degree in the same way that EVERYONE has a right to a high school degree. Considering it is now pretty much impossible to make a living wage without a college degree (emphasis on LIVING wage, not just having a job of any kind: there are thousands of Americans who work full time and still live on the street.), it really isn't right that generations of young adults and having their futures screwed over by college tuition.

This isn't a rant--it's just one of those political areas that I think is hugely misunderstood. :-)
