SG-1

Dec 05, 2009 20:36

So I borrowed the first disc of season 1 of Stargate SG-1. Bad idea. I can see myself becoming obsessed with it. I've only watched the first ep and I'm already hooked. I've never been a sci-fi fan but after loving Star Trek early this year I've become interested in it. I was only going to watch SG-1 so that I would have an idea of the characters ( Read more... )

First, give up and become obsessed *g*. I did the same thing (only I've been watching online) and I'm up to Season Four and eagerly waiting for time to watch more. Um, fics, though... sorry, I can't think of any. But I've become a big fan of Jack/Sam, so any I find will probably be along that line:)

I'm going to go back to the library tomorrow to see if the have the next discs in the season.

I can definitly see the chemistry with Jack/Sam although I haven't really warmed up to Sam yet. I'm hoping she'll grow on me. I do love Jack and Daniel though. They are both awesome! :-)

Hi, I surfed in through friendsfriends, I hope you don't mind. I can't help much rec-wise since most of the favorites I can still find are centered around later seasons. I've lost a lot of links to fic from the early days (seriously, what did we do before delicious came along?), but I do remember that Julie Fortune had some excellent Jack and Daniel-centered gen on her website. If you're a fan of Daniel/Sha're, Fool's Gold by Corby was also quite good. Also, the recs at stargateficrec tend to be pretty good, even though I find it difficult to find things sometimes because of the way they're tagged.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Ah, yes, we got us another one. :-)

Ah, recs. Let me count the ways. :-) Most of mine are set in S7 and later. Um... maybe all of mine, come to think of it.

But! You can't go wrong with Quercus and Keiko Kirin. They were some of the first authors I stumbled on back when I finally relented and got into the fandom. They had pretty much already bailed, so they were writing early seasons, though most of their stuff is mostly spoilerless, I think. I'd say watch the rest of S1 before diving into fic. There are quite a few things that get set in the universe then (I think it was mostly all done in S1, though S5 had some serious new stuff, too). Wait. No, you want to see through S3. Seriously. Especially if you're going to be reading J/D fic. No, I'm not going to tell you why. :-)

Oh, and J/D is my OTP for SG1. I won't be reccing you anything that's not J/D or gen. Speaking of gen, captain_tiv does a *great* line of gen. Check the following archives, too ( ... )

To resist any longer was futile. (And its about time I found a new obsession).

Wow, thanks so much for all the recs. I will wait a little before I get into reading but I like to be prepared in advance ;-) I'll definitly have to read your fic when I reach season 7.

Based on the three episodes I have watched so far I think I will definitly be reading J/D. I love both of them and when that happens I try and get my hands on everything that focuses on them. The only other pairing that has captured my attention so far is Jack/Sam but because I'm not so keen on Sam, I don't see myself wanting to read something where the focus is on her. However, of course, that may very well change the more I watch. :D

I am so going to do that this week. Just need to go back to the library and hope that they have the rest of the season (series) on DVD. :-)

Put them on your Christmas list (if you do that sort of thing). Amazon's got S1 for less than $25.
