Am I the only one who is cranky about this whole Nightwing and Starfire are meant to be!!!!!11 crap that has suddenly come up?

Because if Dick is going to end up with anyone who isn't Tim or Bruce or Clark or Roy it should be Barbara, damnit! Isn't it bad enough that Batman/Wonder Woman isn't really canon except in the freaking JLU cartoons? I ( Read more... )

Dick/Roy. Always and forever.

Even if he does get back together with Kory, it'll just be because... Um... Her hair's vaguely red?

And her eyes are green! See? Dick is just repressing.

But Roy's eyes are blue!

On the other hand, Wally's are green...

...well, nuts. There goes that theory. *totally thought Roy's eyes were green*

In that case, Dick has just been momentarily distracted by Kory's breasts and giant hair. *nods*

all that really means is that there'll be another Nightwing/Huntress crossover.

Heh!

*shrugs* Sorry, I've never quite gotten shipwars. So far as I'm concerned, there's no meant to be, only good writing and bad writing. That's just personal philosophy, though.

I'm sorry you are sad about comics? :( *snuggles*

Not even Clark and Lois? Peter and Mary Jane? Those are the set-in-stone comics characters for me, anyway. ^^;

I'm not actually sad, just sort of baffled. I like to complain when I'm sleepy.. don't mind me. *gladly snuggles*

Honestly? No. I don't know Clark and Lois, and while Peter and MJ is about as close to OTP as I can actually get, and I would be very, very unhappy (maybe even angry) to see them broken up, a lot of the reason for the latter is because after all they've been through it would be just plain lazy writing (though I'm not going to claim there MIGHT, might just be a brilliant bit of storyarcing which would make me go with it).

Frankly, MJ's development as a character and the Peter/MJ relationship has been so fraught by authors with differing opinions and random plotline intersections that it's a wonder they have anything remotely coherent, much less one of the cutest pairings in comics. Knowing that, I can't really say they were Meant to Be because they ... weren't. It happened beautifully and organically, but a few pivotal stories' difference and Peter would be married to Gwen or Felicia, or still single.

You do make good points! I guess I've always been more the type to pair people off for good, a happily ever after kind of thing that growing up on Disney movies clearly brainwashed me with.

I haven't been reading comics (to this degree) for that long. And I know they're on-going and must be kept fresh and interesting, so couples form and endure and break up and get back together and so on and so forth. But I guess I figure if there ever was a true ending for the Spider-Man comics.. like, all the way until Peter's death (and no, not a fake out where he isn't really dead) or old age, I would hope he would still be with MJ.

Given the range of titles in which hints of Dick/Kory reconciliation have been appearing over the past few months -- including IC -- I'd say that if it is going to happen, it's because somebody high up on DC's editorial hierarchy has told the writers to 'make it so.'

I'm used to television slash, where you often have to ignore on-screen pairings in order to 'ship your couple, so the prospect of having to do it in the comics doesn't bother me overmuch.

Of course, Koriand'r has also grown on me a great deal ever the last year. Ten or twelve months ago, this trend would've had me livid; now I actually have neutral-to-warm feelings about Dick and Kory getting back together. Even if they do, it won't be permanent, though, I'm sure. There are passing few relationships in comics canon that are that solid.

Well, Dick/Kory doesn't bother me as a couple, I just don't like it as a forced thing. But then, I'm sure Kory isn't going to force anything she doesn't want to happen, nor will Dick.

Actually, if you could read my reply to Lori below, I'd appreciate it. The continuity with Dick is confusing the hell out of me. Did he leave as Nightwing in "Nightwing" only to Batman, or is Outsiders!Nightwing a different entity? I don't understand. *cries*

There's something about a crippled, black, schizophrenic, civil rights activist-turned-gunslinger...

...except she's not schizophrenic. She most likely has Dissociative Identity Disorder. [/pet peeve]
