Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO)

Sep 14, 2009 22:32

As of the 9th, DDO has gone free to play.

Level 1 cleric on Sarlona server LFG. Putting together a group of friends to approach the game like virtual D&D sessions. Getting a feel for interest... Go here to start downloading and reply.

Thinking about time frames, group logistics, etc.

We could schedule to play fairly consistently on a certain week night, etc. From the 'share quest' button I'm seeing, it seems like people who miss out on part of a quest chain can still get artificially caught up for the next dungeon crawl, etc, but I'm not sure yet. I just went through the starting (shipwreck) sequence, and explored the starting town, which seems like a good place for us to first meet up.

I'm not sure what the minimum system reqs are, but it's an older game and runs great on the laptop I bought a couple years ago now.

I'm not familiar with the game. Is this like Neverwinter Nights, or is it just WoW with a D&D mechanic?

Closer to WoW with D&D mechanics than NWN, although I never did play NWN myself. However, while WoW quests could potentially be played in an episodic fashion with a set group, DDO seems much better set up for such things.
