Today was pretty fun, actually.
~0930 ( I think )
oddharmonic called to get a ride to the D'Evelyn Dash, and then later to
redqueenofevil's going away party.
~1200
The Dash was okay ... we showed up around noon, and it was slated to end at 1300 ... we hung around for a while, attempted to dunk Mr Habel (I missed the stupid target ... grr) The only alum we recognized was Joe Kingry. Yeah ... the Dash was a bust.
~1330
Before the going away party we stopped at the Dairy Queen near jaehop for "lunch" Then headed down to the party.

Had some time to kill, so we stopped off for a bit at DreamTeam, to show Melissa mine, Neon's and Rojzik's offices. Then off to the party (sodas from the /dev/fridge in tow). We knew generally where it was, from a quick visit to Yahoo! maps before we left Evergreen.
~1450
We're driving around the residential area of Downtown (between Colfax and 6th, York and Colorado Blvd) looking for the street we need to turn on. We get nearly lost somewhere and follow an unmarked road around a park (have I mentioned that I don't drive Denver? I travel Speer, sometimes 6th Ave, that's pretty much it) and pop out at the intersection we were looking for. Great coincidence in navigability that we got where we were going by getting lost. We actually drove past the building we were looking for, but it worked out 'cause there was no parking there anyway. Parallel parked about a block North. As I get out of the car, a woman who had been watching from the other side of the street made a comment about my mad parking skillz [ed: I've only parallel parked twice before this, and did a horrible job. She commented something like "Parallel parking isn't your strong suit, is it?" to which I replied an enthusiastic "Nope!" I didn't tap either car though, and was < 6 inches from the curb, so it's all good ;) ]

Other people start showing up to the party. Eventually
ass_,
OracleOfDoom, and a few others showed up. I'm bad at names so I don't remember most of them. and I'd swear I've seen OracleOfDoom's husband somewhere before, but I don't know where and in a day or so I'll have forgotten that it was bugging me and move on with my life. See Ass_'s post about it
here. He and Melissa brought their cameras, but I was a bad geek and didn't bring mine :(

The party starts to break up, or has been breaking up for a few hours, I'm not sure.
ass_,
oddharmonic,
oracleofdoom, her husband John, and I kinda formed a fringe group for most of the party. Around this time
RedQueenOfEvil and her husband joined us. The point of the party was two fold: A standard going away party, and a gathering to get rid of the perishables (food & booze). Some people made off like bandits, I snagged a mostly empty bottle of Bushmills Irish Whiskey. I would have grabbed the half bottle of Maker's Mark, but someone beat me to it ... oh well.

Taking Melissa home, the "Check Gauges" light on my dash lights up. I notice this and think it's very odd since the current tank only has 310 miles on it, and I can usually get 370 before the light comes on ... Make it to her house, drop her off, and head out, giving her the hug I was carrying from Sherbo. When I get back in the car, I notice the light isn't on anymore ... fickle gauge that reads less when pointing uphill ... Start heading down and it comes on again. I'm pretty sure I could make it to Jaehop on what's left in the tank, but since I've already run this car out of gas I decided to stop at a gas station in Evergreen for a gallon of gas to get me to Golden. Drive down, swing by the Conoco Break Place just off I-70 near jaehop, fill up the tank, drive home, write this up, and that pretty much brings us up to now ...
Yup, a fun day indeed. Looking at
Ass's Pics of the day, I notice two things. It looks weird to have my cell phone hold my hat (see pic 1) and in the second pic I look like I'm plotting something ... I don't think I was thinking about anything at that moment though ... just thought I'd strike a pose since a camera was pointed at me. Expect more pics once
oddharmonic uploads hers.
Sorry if this is posted wonkily ... it's ... a long story.
