Starting off as a tester, there's many paths from there. Lets just hope it's for a company and not a outsourcing mob.

When I sent in my resume and the questionnaire the recruiter sent me, he called me back and said something like "Wow! You're resume is impressive, and I have several higher-level positions I could put you in. Do you have three years game testing experience?" to which I could only reply "Game testing? no. Other software? yes, but not games." "Oh... "
