My understanding is that this is how many people get hired into Microsoft. Having said that, I feel your pain.

For what it's worth, I've had 5 jobs since moving out to seattle. Only two of those have been through a recruiting agency. Every other job was direct through Craigslist (and, to be sure, the first job was also through craigslist as well as being through a recruiting agency).

I can't even count the number of recruiters I've spoken to face to face, let alone the numerous more who I've spoken to on the phone, let alone the not-even-fathomable more that have contacted me out of the blue.

Only a tiny percentage of all of that even lead to interviews with the company in question. Don't let flakey recruiters get you down. :)

I'm also sorry I bailed on hanging out this afternoon. In retrospect, I should have. Raid turned out to be shit, and just got me pissed off. ><
