Seekrit Writing Project

I blame a combination of coffee with dinner and a sudden foregrounding of a seekrit project for the lack of update yesterday.

The (not seekrit project) story goes something like this:

I'm not sure if that's good luck or bad... anyway, I sort of envy you. I frequently don't get things written even when in the grip of the muse, due to circumstance.

Though it's technically written, I doubt I'll reuse more than a sentence or two in the rewrite. Maybe those iambs...

I got the same effect way back when I was writing Optinomicon for the first time; I'd wander down to the pub for dinner and drank and wrote while waiting for the food. The difference is, at the time I thought I was writing sort of well. Not great, but well enough to allow others to read it.

Then I started rewriting the story and kicked myself for writing that way. ;)

Well, maybe it's like when I start a comic or woodburn in pencil. Frequently, I get it all wrong and when I do the ink or burn, I keep very few of the actual lines... but the idea and outline of the pencilwork make the final product a lot better than when I just do it freehand.

But I still like doing freehand a lot of the time. It's more of the fun and less of the work.
