After the era that is called “The Great Disorder” the world still needed its balance. Earth, in order to protect the nature and its inhabitants gave birth to three powerful sorcerers, creating them from dirt and water. Their task was simple - defend the balance between good and evil and make sure that the dark time won’t appear again. Those three men were called according to the robe they were wearing - Black, White and Grey. People respected them, asked questions and entrusted them with solving their disputes fairly and simply confiding all their secrets Good and evil, light and darkness, as well as hope and wretchedness were equal and the world slowly got out of chaos. Every crime was punished, every good deed rewarded. There was no place for revenge, injustice and disarray.
Everything was in its place, seasons were changing, people slowly started to solve their problems by themselves, gradually balance came back and that meant that the sorcerers task was over. Then their mother called them; she had to remind her sons the purpose of their existence.
“My sons! You know why I gave you lives and put great responsibility on your shoulders. The world needed help and you did a great job. Now, everything should be left to the nature. Your work here is over. I’ll call you back again soon, my sons! Now… go back to your castle for now.” And she disappeared, leaving them with mixed feelings of relief, a sense of fulfillment of the obligation and sadness. They loved the people, so they didn’t want to leave them but they were also aware that now their presence would bring disorder back. That’s why they accepted their fate and tried to accomplish their assignment until the end. However soon, a small spark of anxiety appeared in one of the sorcerer’s heart.
“Why do we have to serve the people? Why can’t they serve us? We have the power; we can crush them if they won’t obey! We are stronger!” Black had thought and looked at the villages below, thinking of a plan.
It didn’t take the Black sorcerer long before he came up with a plan; recruit some of the people with the darkest heart as direct servants, people who wanted to take over the world just like him. White opposed the plan.
“Why bring the world back in chaos, back in its disorder when we can create peace that will last forever. They don’t serve us, we serve them, bringing justice to everyone who bring crime and disorder in this world. We won’t be here much longer, we need to appoint those with the lightest and most good willing hearts as our judges, make sure evil is banned completely.” And so their fight started. At first they had just been arguing with each other but as the time passed and Earth still hadn’t come to get her sons they started to recruit their own people. Strong minded and tough people those who saw the world in black and white. The Dark Watch and the Light Watch were born out of those people. Blinded by their goal, both Black and White had forgotten about their purpose in life and started to bring the world back in an imbalanced state.
Just when they were about to clash, start the fight for real with the recruited humans as their puppets, Grey stepped in. He was the only one who hadn’t forgotten about their true goal and finally stepped in before everything would get out of hand. In the middle of the battlefield he stepped forward, appearing with a child at his side.
“My dear brothers, what has become of you? You are blinded by the light and the darkness and for what? The world was at peace, the balance was found and now we are on the edge of breaking it again. It seems I’m the only one who hasn’t forgotten about our true goal, to keep the world in a perfect balance. I can’t let this happen; the balance must be kept in order to let this world survive.” Grey’s words made Black and White realize what they had been doing, but it still didn’t make them able to stop their own madness. They were buried inside their own desire too deeply, but they trusted Grey as he made up a pact, the Treaty both sides signed and had to follow in order to keep the balance in the world.
“May this pure child be my witness, shall he be protected as he will have the key to the balance of this world.” Grey dissolved into the thin air, taking the Treaty with him. As he disappeared new people came in sight, protecting the child in their middle from both sides, good and evil, light and dark. With that, the last Watch, the Border Patrol was born, swearing to protect the Treaty with their lives and keeping an eye on both sides, making sure they would follow the signed pact in order to keep the balance in the world.
