*MASTERPOST* The coffee was already cold, but Ninomiya Kazunari couldn’t leave the interrogation room to buy a new one. He was in the middle of questioning the suspect and soon the pitiful man in front of him will break, so even if he hated cold coffee, he couldn’t go out. He rubbed his eyes and sighed.
“Tell me what were you doing yesterday at the crime scene?”
“I told you that three times already! Besides, you don’t have any evidence! Why are you keeping me here?!” The man was apparently upset, sweating and looking around as if he was afraid of something. Kazunari thought that he already broke him.
“You were caught with a knife near the apartment when a Light Watch officer was murdered. You have no alibi and your fingerprints were found in the victim’s bedroom. All I want you to do is to confess. You will save a lot of time and troubles to both sides.”
“I didn’t kill her! I… I… I loved her, god damn it!” The man started to cry and Nino wondered why the Dark Watch worker is letting himself show that kind of theatrical emotions. So evil people can shed tears… Interesting.
“Listen, I am not buying it. You know that any kind of relationships with other side is forbidden!”
“Look who’s talking… Your small… affairs with one of our boys is an open secret. That’s why you were sent here, lieutenant? Or should I say ex-lieutenant?” The suspect smirked and most definitely didn’t expect the mug flying his way and hitting his head. The black liquid spilled all over him and he jumped back, almost falling down. In the next second he was pinned to the floor with Kazunari’s shoe close to his Adam’s apple.
“Listen you punk, we are not talking about me right now. I know you killed her, so don’t waste my time and confess before the Grey ones will come to check if it was simple murderer or crime against the Treaty. Or maybe you want to answer their questions… and believe me, it’ll hurt more…” Nino pressed his shoe against the latter’s neck and stared at him. The man on the floor became pale as soon as he heard about the Border Watch and probably at this moment he broke, spilling words without any sense. Kazunari smiled and moved back, asked the suspect for repeating everything slower and recorded the whole confession. It was typical situation that happens even to civilians. The woman wanted to break up with him; probably she was scared of the consequences of their actions. He couldn’t agree on that. It didn’t matter if he really loved her or not. He killed her because she wanted to leave him. Case closed.

He wasn’t an average Light Watch officer. Ninomiya didn’t like to work with other agents; you can definitely say that he was a loner. Most definitely he also had his own methods that could be considered as cruel and unethical but they were effective. Kazunari couldn’t count the times when he was asked by the top heads from Dark Watch to join them but he wasn’t like them. He didn’t like hurting people and planning some wars wasn’t his hobby. Of course it was unavoidable, whole world was a system of communicating vessels and their job was to guard the balance, guaranteed by the Treaty. They vowed on it, promising to protect it even if it will cost them their lives. The chief of Tokyo’s Light Watch tended to close his eyes on Nino’s actions, believing that end justifies the means and managed to patch up all Dark side’s objections. After all, Kazunari didn’t hurt anyone who didn’t deserve it and because the Watches’ officers were not covered by the Geneva Conventions or any other “civilians” laws nobody could harm him. However this last case was different. Probably the Dark Watch thought that this was too much and submitted an official letter to the Border Watch with complains and the Grey ones decided to take a closer look at Ninomiya. This was equal to lockup his rank and waiting until all his files will be read and that meant no serious investigations for a longer while.
Kazunari came back to his own apartment around midnight and reached to the fridge for a beer. He had a terrible day and all he dreamed about was a warm, cozy bed. His phone blinked and Nino looked at the screen, read the threaten-full mail and shrugged. It seemed that his forbidden romance with a mere Dark one is over. Good, now he will have his conscience clear finally. As a loyal representative of the Light he felt guilty every time he had sex with that boy, but sometimes his body spoke louder. Slowly sipping his beer he looked at the city’s lights and sighed. If the Border Watch, called by ignorant „the inquisition”, learns about his small affairs he will be in troubles. This is far more dangerous than hitting few evil ones or avoiding getting a partner. It is breaking the most sacred thing in the entire world, almost equal to attempt to create a disorder. This crime could be punished with sending to emptiness, but probably, regarding his merits it would end with life, maybe over a dozen years in prison if he is lucky. In this circumstances no wonder that his boss wanted to be extra cautious and moved him aside for some time. Ninomiya wasn’t sure if the chief of Tokyo’s Light Watch - Seitou-sama knows about his adventures on the edge of morality though… Whatever the truth was, now Kazunari was stuck behind the desk and piles of unfinished reports and others documents and he hate that. He had to handle other officers and maybe even talk to them, which he didn’t like. Ninomiya always felt like a second grade human being, even if he had the same qualities as all of agents, no matter on which side… He had high resistance for pain and high intelligence just like them; without that he wouldn’t be accepted to the service. However he had his sins and now it could cost him not only his badge, but also his life, more or less.
“You’re in deep shit …” Nino said to himself, still staring at the city lights. He finished his beer and threw the can on the floor, heading to bedroom and pulling the blanket over his head. He couldn’t sleep, worrying about his future and after a while that seemed to be an eternity he looked at the watch. Hands were pointing 3 A. M. but he wasn’t worried at all. Tomorrow a pile of papers awaits him; nothing that demands much mental effort from him so he can be tired. Before the dream sneaked the last thought he had was a certainty that something bad will happen. All he could do was hoping that it’s only some delusion.
