Kazunari woke up and sighed, looking at Matsumoto’s sleeping face right next to him. He couldn’t help but smiling and reached out his hand to take a wisp from the latter’s face, but he stopped few inches away. Cursing, he got up as quiet and careful as he could, trying not to wake up Matsumoto, who was sleeping like a child in his bed. Again, just when Ninomiya thought he won’t see that face ever again and meanwhile he couldn’t help and fucked him even if he was mad at the taller man.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Ninomiya?” He scolded himself and went to the kitchen to drink something, preferably with high alcohol content. On the second thought he grabbed a bottle with water, ice cubes and lemon. What will happen now, when he got his past back; when he knows everything and when he did the greatest sin the Light Watch officer could do - fell for the enemy. Of course Nino didn’t know what will happen when this whole circus will be over, but now he was on the Light’s side. To be honest, he should go to his boss right now and tell everything. He shouldn’t help that diva escape at the first place! All his actions made him a strange kind of traitor; he betrayed his beliefs for few good whiles with Jun? He fell for that princess (more or less) and now he put not only his career but also life in danger for a nice fucking.
“You’re an idiot, Ninomiya…” He sighed and emptied the glass, wincing a bit.
“Yes, you are…” The younger’s sleepy voice sounded in the kitchen, making the shorter one to jump, startled.
“Thought you wanted to have some more of your beauty sleep. It’s still early.”
“There is a place I have to go to. Alone…” Matsumoto looked at Kazunari and bit his lip.
“Don’t worry, I won’t stalk you around. I am not you.”
“Watch it!”
“Oh I am sorry, your highness! Did I offend you? I apologize!”
“Shut up, okay? Just shut up! I don’t have time for this! We need to find out who the Dark Priest is and…”
“Excuse me, what ‘we’?! There is no ‘us’ anymore! I offered your help and I get your ass out of the jail and that’s it! I won’t let you use me any longer!”
“You liked it, so stop whining and drive me to this address!” Jun put a piece of paper on the table the address of some fancy restaurant on the other side of the city written on it.
“You know what? Fuck you! I won’t help you any longer! You used the fact that I didn’t remember a thing to drag me in your bed. I have no idea why did you let it happen for that long, probably your pretty face stopped attract men, you were so busy with your stupid investigation or you were too lazy to look for somebody else! That doesn’t matter anymore. I won’t let you touch me anymore! So go to that shitty restaurant by yourself!”
“Listen, shorty! I wasn’t the one who fucked you under shower yesterday so cut the crap about suffering! Now the only thing that’s important is catching that scum that wants to destroy the Treaty. So stop thinking about yourself, Mister Egoist and take me there at 2 PM!”
“Do you listen to yourself sometimes?! And what do you want to do now, huh? Go there and catch a man that you don’t even know his face, without any assurances he won’t bring bunch of gorillas with him? Perfect idea!”
“Do you have a better plan?!” Kazunari remained silent, so Jun continued. “I thought so! So stop whining and help me think about details. We need to go in the restaurant…”
“I said, there is no ‘we’ here… YOU! YOU need to go in the place unnoticed. And as far as I know it’s not that easy to get a table there… Of course you could ask the Dark Watch for help, but in your case…” Ninomiya smirked, feeling that he won this unidentified war he had with the younger man. “You should just use your charm…”
“Shut up! Your constant stressing that it’s over won’t help in anything! Let’s put aside everything that still is or not between us and focus on the case, okay? I don’t think we have time for that now. Just drive me there and then do whatever you want. You can even betray me and say the Grey ones where I am, I don’t care! Now, do you know this restaurant?” Jun started to look for a map and soon he took out his phone and looked for the detailed description of the restaurant, mumbling something quietly. Ninomiya sighed and looked at the latter and shook his head. Matsumoto was right, he should hide his pride and hurt heart somewhere deep and think about catching the culprit before he will manage to threat the Treaty. His ego has to wait; there still will be time for settling this with the younger man.
“I was once in this restaurant. If nothing changed it is one of the most sophisticated places I’ve ever been in. You have to be on a special list and believe me; it’s that special that even my boss had problems to get me inside. Once you get in you have to abide some rules. No phone, no any electronics with you… Although I doubt you will get inside… Are you listening to me at all?!”
“What? Ah, yes… I was just reading an article about a guy who sneaked in through the opened window on the second floor… It is possible to sneak in there!”
“If you read about it, it means that that they already secured that route you idiot! God, how it’s possible you were promoted?!”
“No, moron! The second floor belongs to somebody else, so they can’t order to close windows just like that… This article is from a year ago though…”
“Yeah, they probably managed to buy it. Come on, let’s get dressed and I’ll drive you there.” Kazunari went to the bedroom and quickly put some sweatpants and T-shirt on. He wanted to get over with everything as soon as possible. Soon Jun joined him and after a while they both sat in Nino’s car, heading to the other part of the city to meet the mysterious Dark Priest.
“I won’t expect any ‘take care’ from you…” Matsumoto whispered, looking at his lover’s face.
“Good, you won’t hear any. Now go and check that scumbag. End this case before they will catch you.” Jun nodded as an answer and disappeared in the shadow of the building. “Be careful…” The older man whispered holding his breath until the familiar silhouette vanished around the corner.
Jun was doubtful about what he should do. He could never get into the restaurant and even if he could it was still dangerous. He still didn't know if Yuuichiro's murder was planned by the Dark Priest or not and on top of that Jun wasn't even officially a member of the gang. If they would find out about him and saw his tattoo he would be in big trouble. He walked around the building of the restaurant, checking if there was any chance where he could get in. He didn't know if the floor above it was taken over or not, but every window was closed so no way in for him through there.
"Come on, think. It's my only chance, I can't blow up." He scolded himself softly. There had to be a way in there, some unattended door or slightly opened window he could sneak in to. When he crossed the front door again he got an idea. Taking a deep breath he stepped in, trying his best to keep his heart as calm as possible.
"Can I help you sir?" The man at the reception desk asked him, eyeing him with clear disgust. He wasn't dressed for a fancy restaurant like this so he could have expected a reaction like this.
"Maybe you can. I'm looking for someone called Haishin Yuuichiro, he is supposed to have a meeting here. He asked me to come to this place saying he needed to give me something so I was wondering if he has arrived yet." The man looked at the book in front of him.
"I see. He hasn't arrived yet and his company has yet to arrive as well."
"In that case, is it okay for me to wait here for him?" The other man looked at him carefully, probably trying to find a way to get him away but eventually nodded.
"Thank you." Jun sat down on the couch next to the reception desk, moving around a bit uncomfortable and hoping the Dark Priest wouldn't show up this moment. It could give him some troubles if he did. After waiting for around five minutes he got up and went to the man at the reception desk again.
"I'm really sorry and it's a bit embarrassing to ask, but could I use the bathroom? I think I drank a bit too much today." His heart almost stopped as he waited, knowing that he could completely blow his chance this second but to his surprise the man nodded and told him the direction he should go. It was almost too easy, he couldn't believe he got in this way but as soon as he closed the bathroom door behind him he breathed out loudly. He got a good view on the restaurant on his way and noticed there were only a few tables free and only two of them were two person tables. He quickly scanned through the bathroom, looking for any windows or ventilating shafts he could use but it seemed that his luck so far had left him. He peeked into the restaurant again, looking if the tables were taken now but they were still empty. Sighing he leaned against the doorframe, thinking about his next move. He couldn't stay here for too long, not without that man at the front desk getting suspicious.
"Ten past two. He should be here by now." He softly muttered, looking at his watch. He peeked inside again, seeing one of the tables was taken by two wealthy looking women. So it had to be the last empty table that would be reserved for Yuuichiro and the Dark Priest. He stayed inside the bathroom for five more minutes, getting more and more nervous about being caught. When he walked outside again he saw the table was still empty. On his way back to the reception desk a foreign man crossed his path and somehow caught his attention. The man at the reception desk told him Yuuichiro still hadn't arrived but acted a bit mysterious and nervous which made Jun look back into the restaurant again. Just like he thought the foreign man had taken a seat at the only empty table for two and looked around a bit annoyed. Jun smiled and thanked the man at the reception desk for his time and without saying another word he left the restaurant.
So the Dark Priest had shown up. That was if this was the real one of course, you never know but it did probably mean that they thought Yuuichiro was still alive. That made the mystery around the ex Light Watch officer a bit more clear and less important at this moment. His biggest concern right now was catching the one who was a danger to the Treaty and the balance. And now that he got a face, his search and investigation would go a lot smoother right now, or at least he hoped. Smiling he started to walk through the city knowing where his first stop would be. His smile changed into a pleased smirk as the door of the apartment he stood in front of opened and revealed a clearly annoyed man.
"What are you doing here? I said I wouldn't help you anymore so don't come running to me now."
"I'm not here for help. I left my phone since I couldn't risk losing it in case I could get in. Now I need it so if you could be so kind to give it to me." Ninomiya rolled his eyes but stepped aside to let him in.
"Could you have an even more lame excuse?" The smaller man mumbled as Jun picked up his phone from the table where he left it this morning. Even though he knew there would be nothing he still checked for any missed calls or messages, feeling Nino's eyes burning on his back. When he closed his phone and put it in his pocket he heard a heavy sigh behind him.
"I'm an idiot for asking but did you find out anything?" Jun smiled and turned around.
"Of course I found out something. And some really interesting stuff as well. But I don't want to trouble you with any of that so I'll just leave right now." As he got ready to leave he felt the hesitation of the other man behind him and when he reached out for the door to leave he was stopped by an annoyed 'wait'. Still smirking he turned around, crooking his eyebrow as he looked at the smaller man.
"I helped you so far so you can at least tell me what you found out. I need to know where to start once your butt ends up in jail again since I'm not getting you out for a second time." Jun laughed.
"Like hell I'm going back there, but since you are so eager to know I'll make a deal. Get me a beer and something to eat and I'll tell you."
"Just beer, you can get the food yourself." Jun rolled his eyes but walked back into the living room either way, just like he had planned to do the moment he got out of the restaurant.
