It was surprisingly easy for Kon to sneak
into the tower, stealing a uniform from the servants’ wing then he mimicked an orderly to bypass a janitor leaving the tower, making sure the man with the mop wasn’t any the wiser to Kon’s sticky fingers.
It was decidedly eerie, walking up the winding stair, the jangle of keys echoing in the corridor, the old coppery smell clogging his nose, the ax murder slinking up behind him, a sharpened rusty spoon in hand…Okay maybe Kon’s imagination was getting away from him, as he approached that final landing. He had a reasonable explanation why he was about to walk into probable doom.
Honestly! The lack of people contact was starting to drive the teen off the deep end. He was a people person, but he couldn’t be a people person when there were NO PEOPLE. He was desperate and slightly mad and more than slightly curious. Kon was tired of talking to himself. Pushing down the voice that told him what he was attempting was so wrong in so many ways; he quickly opened the door, shut it, and stuffed the keys into his pant pocket, "Ollie, ollie oxen free?"
