( It was a pleasant day, so it followed that Orihime would be outside in the same incontrovertible way that the presence of bees followed flowers. )

After getting really sad over the fact that she couldn't find Ken-chan in either his room, her own room, or the cafeteria, Yachiru decided to try looking outside. She hadn't been out in a while, and figured if he left the guards would have seen him.

Running through the open grounds, she noticed a girl sitting near a tree apparently talking to the air. Wondering who she was speaking with, since she looked really shiny and happy, Yachiru wandered over.

Skidding to a stop, she smiled widely and waved. "Hi! I'm Yachiru, an' I'm lookin' fer Ken-chan! Have ya seen 'im?"

The bright voice made Orihime look up, and Ayame flutter away. "Oh, hello! Yachiru, is it?" said Orihime immediately, even as her eyes flickered over to the retreating Ayame. "Um... I'm sorry, I don't know who Ken-chan is," she admitted with a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of her neck.

Orihime thought that she had seen the girl around -- pink hair, pink hair. There had been someone with pink hair -- but no, that was a scary man with glasses. Oh, it didn't matter! She seemed nice. And young. Very young. And cute!

"Maybe if you tell me what he looks like, I can tell you if I've seen him!" Orihime suggested enthusiastically. "Oh. I'm Orihime, by the way," she added as an afterthought.

Distracted by the fact that this Orihime girl seemed to keep looking past her, Yachiru put her finger to her mouth as she pondered how to describe what Ken-chan looked like. "Ya don't know who Ken-chan is? That's okay Jiggly-chan, I'll be able ta tell ya everythin' about 'im!"

Dropping down to a squat next to Orihime, Yachiru began her description. "Ken-chan is big an' tall an' he's got spiky dark hair wit' bells on tha tips! An' he wears an eyepatch! An' he loves ta fight!" As she spoke, she began to pick flowers and pop the heads off.

"I'm sure you've seen him! He's really hard ta miss. An' anyway, he better not 'ave left without me, or I'll have ta kick his ass!"

"Jiggly-chan...?" repeated Orihime vaguely, somehow managing to be both wide-eyed and blinking at the same time. But she said it very quietly, too quietly for even herself to hear, because Yachiru was talking, and oh, how rude it would be to interrupt her! So she listened patiently, tuning out the sound of the Shun Shun Rikka squabbling in the background ( ... )
