Just watched The Happening. I might be the only person left that has faith in M. Night *Shamalamadingdong. (*sp) Yes the acting was horrid, and scenes were laughable, but the idea he had was scary as hell. If only he wrote this as a book, then the HORRID acting/directing wouldn't have been so disctracting ( Read more... )

My favorite quote from the movie didn't come from the script, it came from the guys sitting behind me in the theater when I saw it.

Guy #1: Dude, we make better movies than this... when we're drunk.

marky mark acts every line like he's an excited child telling his mom what happened at school that day. its egregiously bad.

i still like that guy too.
matt hated it, he said for a two hour movie called the happening there certainly wasn't a lot ((if anything)) actually happening.
i mean, i thought it could have been better ((the climax was pretty, uhh, anti-climactic.)) but, yeah, the concept was pretty great.

He lost me with Lady in the water. Which is sad because by itself it wasn't so bad. Paul Giamatti and Ron Howard's red-hot redhead daughter were great. But I went to it expecting to see an M. Night Shamalamavoteforobama movie, not a confusing adaptation of a bad children's book. Where's my suspenseful, unexpected twist? It would have been better if the pool man actually turned out to be a ghost, and an alien who was allergic to water. Then the pool would have been ironic, instead of lame, like Markie Mark (who I hold personally responsible for the suckfest that was Planet of the Apes, but we don't need to get into that now).
