Warning: Rant Zone - So Sick of U.S. Politics, I Could Spit!

Okay, so Christine O'Donnell?  You're making Sarah Palin look like a Mensa candidate!

Rand Paul? Glad you fired the campagin worker who flung a woman to the ground and stepped on her head, but interesting that you hired him in the first place.

Civility in U.S. politics was always a myth, but this year? It's been FLUNG right out the window.

How about this: political ultra-right movements in the US (oh yes, I count the tea party as ultra-right) and Europe stink. We should know better, can do better. Right now, a generation of bona fide idiots are trying to take over.

IT'S AN OUTRAGE AND WE'RE GOING TO SHOUT ABOUT IT! LOUD AND OFTEN!!!

So basically: I agree with you!

KRAM!

Tack min snella kompis! I know that you were there first, with YOUR elections. I still love that female Bishop in Stockholm. THAT is an adult! Bravo, her!

People need to grow up and take the initiative to learn some facts, and not believe things that they're told. Just because they happen to agree certain things, doesn't mean that they are TRUE!

I'm just so tired of it all. Tack for dina KRAM. Stora Kram tillbacka.

This, exactly this. I understand that you're getting tired. So lean on those who agree with common sense and get new strength. We're going to need it, you know. If we don't fight against this, then I don't know how it's going to end. We'll all move in the Småland forest and start over?

STOR KRAAAAAM till dig, kära kompis!

Tack, sotnuss! Today's the day, and we'll see what we see. I think we have to fight for what we believe in, **whatever** side folks may be on, and I can respect that. But this year things are so extreme, I feel for my moderate Republican friends, who are also gnashing their teeth. On the flip side, if people are apathetic, and whine - while doing nothing - then they deserve what they get. At anyrate, today shall tell.

In any case, spending time in a Smålansk forest doesn't seem like such a bad idea! ;-) Especially if we can forage for kantereller, blåber, lingon, etc. YAAAAY! Men det ar kalt nu, ja? So perhaps, in the spring? I don't want to have to be rescued by a tomte. ;-) KRAAAAM!!!

I don't consider myself an ADD baby engaged in Short Attention Span Theatre.

Good! If you are not be distracted by the small stuff, and can see a multi-year plan in action (even if you may disagree with it), while understanding that there will not be instantaneous results, then Bravo You! Unfortunately, you are increasingly unique, as apparently many, MANY Americans, (on both sides) having become so used to expecting instant gratification, don't share your understanding. And want it all NOW. I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush. But some people really are distracted by the shiny, and some really do want things *this second.*

Unfortunately I still think the whole of your entry is directed at people like me.

A rant is just that...a rant. And I'm entitled to my opinion and my frustration - which is extreme ( ... )

The only good that comes from Short Attention Span Theatre is that instead of the political ads dragging on for a minute or more with the slander and muck-raking, they now only last fifteen seconds. The drawback to that is that there's more of them.

I personally think the current administration is suffering from America's desperate need for something shiny to be distracted by at all times. It's what I call "instant-gratification backlash." The general public seems to want everything now, now, NOW!!! What happened to "patience is a virtue"?

I'm willing to dig down deep and do what is necessary to get through. It's just a shame so many are not. It does take time. Like baby weight loss. Count on at least as long as the pregnancy to get back to normal. Eight+ years to get in, probably ten+ to get back out.

Yes! When I used the term "Short Attention Span Theatre" it really was to indicated how easily distracted some people are. Which is scary, really. Like a prize-fighter, reacting with a punch. Or almost like hungry trout, willing to snap at the first shiny object they see -- even if its a triple-barbed hook. I just don't understand how people can vote against their own best interests, yet don't see that, all because of one potential fly (issue) in the waters.

And YES, so many seem to want the instant gratification that they have gotten used to in other areas of their lives. I LOVE your baby weight-loss analogy. Very good, and very true.

I find the lack of basic civility is truly sad and disheartening as well. And, yes, Patience *IS* still a virtue.

You're so welcome. It's being bubbling up, and I finally just had to let it out. Glad if I can help others by my own venting ( ... )
