I must have somehow made my settings not allow that to happen, which is good because I already hate the "People You May Know" feature with a passion I usually try to reserve for war and pestilence. I already suggested to Facebook that a better way would be to suggest to us that we check our various groups for potential friends.
The first three people the feature popped into my sidebar were people I do know, but just plain don't like. I'm about as likely to friend them as I am to walk from here to the moon.
I'm getting those and have the same reaction! "Really? Someone from NYU just joined Facebook? Of course I know them, Iknow EVERYONE who went to NYU!!" It's like when you go to Europe and someone says "You are from America? Do you know George?"
