Karen sat cross-legged in her dormitory, hoping that no one walked in on her. She was busy boiling a her cauldron on the carpet, being wary not to burn anything in the dorm. Taking the long way to the Ravenclaw dormitory, Harry was almost too busy making strange idle conversation with Sir Cadogan as he walked to really notice the girl at first. In fact, it was Sir Cadogan himself who pointed to her with a dramatic flair.

"My boy, it seems there is a damsel in need of our assistance! See to it that our honor remains in tact!" he announced, and Harry turned his confused eyes away from the portrait to see Karen lying motionless on the ground.

His heart thudded sickly as he rushed to kneel next to her. "Karen? Karen, wake up-" he started, patting her face lightly before letting his hand fall to her throat, feeling for a pulse. "Oh god...oh god..." he muttered, looking desperately around for someone to help.

Karen didn't react. Her hands were still slumped in odd directions and her eyes, which otherwise would have burst open at the sound of Harry's voice, did not move.

Karen suddenly felt something burn her throat, and she coughed heavily and sat up in the hospital bed. Harry was standing on the other side of the room, looking nervous ( ... )
