Why is the grass always greener?

Feb 15, 2008 20:06

Get it out of my head. The more I try not to think about it, the more I do. I feel guilty doing it too, but it comes up in my dreams...can I control what I dream about? *sigh* Is there a reason why it won't go away? I wish I knew... I wish somehow the decision could be made for me...

Hahah, thanks for the metaphor. As a kid, I was always in a hurry to grow up...Now the grass the kids eat looks SO much nicer...though I think even being a kid had its share of manure. I mean, the heartache of a 3rd grade crush seemed just as big of a deal as adult decisions now... I think the decisions and dilemmas of adulthood just have farther reaching consequences. I talk to my students quite a bit about enjoying their time as kids, but I'm pretty sure it's developmentally required to fall on deaf ears. I wouldn't have listened when I was a kid if anyone told me that I should like being a kid. But I try anyway.

I dunno- I have learned that my dreams represent what my heart really wants.

But can the heart determine between wants and needs?
