I hear sometimes the idea of the muse being a sort of paradox. In that to produce great art, some people need to be loved by someone who loves them unconditionally regardless of whether or not they produce great art. I can understand this. It is definitely stifling if you have expectations around you to live up to, and you feel like if you don't then some degree of love and support will be withdrawn.
My muse is a bad break-up - always gets me writing with fervour. Never had it as bad as Cassandra though. That Apollo guy totally can't handle rejection. I think I met him on OKCupid one time.
