Quite right about those villains and minor characters. Everybody in my WIP "Jana, Reluctant Goddess" wants something he or she believes noble and life-essential, even villainess hagezusa (read witch). Saxon Jana has a good reason for not wanting to be a goddess. A refugee from the invading Frank army, she's on a mission to find and rescue her captured little brother.
