Thanks for posting this. I may be in the choir you're preaching to, but I hadn't really considered all of the implications of DADT to the "Silent Partners." Out of everything, though, this struck me as the most degrading: "It means always having a fake second bedroom set up in our apartment so that if someone from her unit comes over, we're "just roommates."" That's just sick, that they have to worry about that sort of thing.

I was against the whole policy from the start. I think we should just let them serve openly. The Marine Corps, as I am sure you know, is a pretty homophobic organization. However, I did not care (still don't) who someone wants to sleep with, as long as they are willing to kill the enemy in order to save my life.
If they are willing to do the grim duty of a warrior, I don't care about the rest. I wish more people agreed with me.

thanks... i wish more did too.. i saw too many of us get pushed out or threatened with it even in the reserves..
