I applied for a Florida title for my car back in late October. The lady at the DMV told me I would get a title in the mail in 2 weeks... I still have nothing. I really don't want to go back to the DMV and spend another four and a half hours there to come out empty handed ( Read more... )

I already filed it at the Orange County Office. I'm just going to go in next week and see what happened. A guy at work said I wont even get a title until I pay off the car which I don't believe. Michigan gave me a title, but it had lienholder information on it and I had to turn that over to get a FL one. Now I have nothing but a receipt. :(

...and just got off the phone with both the State of Florida and my bank. The lady at the tax collectors office didn't know what she was talking about. Florida sends the title to the bank for them to hold until I pay the car off. I'm not supposed to get anything in the mail from the state which is a little odd.

The only thing I am supposed to have until the car is payed off is the copy of my application for title and the receipt that I payed. I confirmed this with my bank who received the title a few weeks ago. *whew*

Why cant all states do things the same way?
