OMG! I just saw this...only four years late!!! I'm so sorry. I came here to see if you had posted an update about your health situation and saw this entry. I have no idea how I missed it in 2013, but thank you ever so much.
Again, I apologize and hope you are doing well. And I hope you will see this.
Hi Jo Ann, No problem. I basically have left LJ (and check notifications at my old e-mail account only once a month or so).
My health situation is basically the same. As I have tiny little metastases in my lungs, I will lifelong undergo a series of chemotherapy treatments and a few months of no treatment in-between.
My current treatment consists out of two weeks of taking chemotherapy tablets, with the first day spent at my oncology doctors for an additional infusion of another agent, and after two weeks of taking tablets, one week of not taking any tablets. And then the circle begins again.
But this sounds harsher than it is. Apart from the one day of infusion, where I get an allergic reaction that leaves me breathless for 24 hours, I almost have no side effects at all. At the moment, living with my cancer is very easy, as compared to the other ways of treatment and their side effects I had before.
Thank you so, so much for replying. Several people have asked if anyone had heard from you so it's good to hear that you're doing OK. Best of luck with the chemotherapy and I hope you will be completely healthy very soon.
