I agreed to buy a car. It's way too pretty for something I ought to own, but it's a Honda Civic with 44k miles on it, and I feel good about that. Also, it's still within the budget I set. "...there's a gal downstairs, she's 85..."

"Dad, I need your help looking over potential cars I might want to buy."
"Where are you going to find one? Dealerships are all going under and the newspaper is sliiiiim pickings."
"Dad, that's because nobody uses the newspaper for classifieds anymore. They're all on Craiglist. THAT IS WHY MY INDUSTRY IS FALTERING."
"Oh."

Today was my first we-went-to-middle-school-together-and-I-hung-out-at-your-house-sometimes-and-now-we're-facebook-friends-
because-we-awkwardly-bumped-into-each-other-at-Copp's-last-month-and-now-it-turns-out-you're-pregnant.

My generation is making babies. AH.

The older I get, the more employers/potential employers call me "Chris" instead of "Christie" or "Christina."

I like it because it sounds a bit more formal than "Christie" without being as formal as my full name, and is still a smooth/pretty sound. Oh yeah, and I enjoy the androgyny.

I'm focusing a lot more on my writing these days, since journalism is not exactly an encouraging enterprise right now and I'm currently struggling to think of ways to still "do journalism" without the formal structure of an old-school newspaper job (I know they exist. Benefits of my minimum wage, 10-hours-per-week cookie shop job:

a) free cookies (if I eat them there)
b) my boss tells me I'm smart when I successfully clock in without any help
c) I KILLED A FLY TODAY YOU GUYS.

I also have a living wage, 28-hours-per week call center job, starting in 30 minutes. BRB.
