Just one more way of letting go

Lately, one of my biggest issues with Katie has been her desire to pick out her own clothes. My original course of action was to pick out three or four different outfits for her to choose from, but recently she's wanted to make all of her own choices. Hey! That's what *I* was wearing today! :P Actually, I think it's wonderful that you're allowing Katie the freedom to express herself in clothes; just think of what an independent thinker she's going to be! She'll be the only one in her school who feels comfortable thinking out of the box!!

Hmmmm, somehow I have a hard time believing that. :P

She's already well on her way to being an independent thinker. And sometimes it crosses the line into stubborn, but she comes by it honestly.

That rules! What a totally fab outfit - she'll be setting trends at school! :)

Kudos to you for doing this, too. Great parenting move. In one stroke you're teaching her:

a. To be her own person and make decisions that work for her
b. That you respect her judgement
c. That who you are is more important than what you wear

I give you the Good Mom Award of the Day! And I know I've said this before...but gosh, she is such a cutie pie!

Awww, shucks. Thank you!

I never thought that a simple issue like this would become such a challenge for me, but it's just one more way I have to learn to let go. Maybe I'll get lucky and by letting her wear almost whatever she wants now we'll avoid arguments over belly shirts and mini skirts in ten years.

Ok, yeah, that's probably wishful thinking. :P
