I do that all the time. I'm still beating myself up for, when I was asked how to spell "yellow" by a classmate in kindergarten, not being able to spell it. Yikes.

In first grade, I named a family in a story of mine the "Dodders." I got points off for misspelling "Daughters." I'm still beating myself up over not confronting the teacher and being like 'Bitch I know how to spell. That's a personal pronoun!'
