My husband and I are preparing for the upcoming hurricane. I'm getting really stressed about the fate of my freezer stash if we lose power. Is there anything that I should be doing in advance to save it? Buying a generator isn't really an option. Everyone is sold out.
Thanks.

Hope all is well with all of you guys in WV.
And I do think I'm going to go with the ice pack route. I'm hoping our chest freezer is hard-core enough to keep things frozen for a while. I'm going back to work in a few weeks and I've been busting my butt to get a good freezer stash for Stevie. I'll be such a wreck if I lose it. I have over 100 oz. at risk.

Um, as far as the freezer stash, maybe you could split it up between different freezers - if there's space available at a friend's house or at work. That way, there's less of a chance of losing it all. Also, you probably know this, but full freezers stay frozen longer when there's a power outage, so packing your freezer completely full with bottles of water or whatever would be helpful.

Stevie is 10 weeks old and he's doing great. I feel like I really lucked out. No colic and he's been sleeping through the night since about 6 weeks. My only complaint is that I'm working part-time from home and that sucks. I'm just not able to devote enough time to work or to Stevie. I feel like I'm doing everything poorly. I'm going back in mid-September, though. I think it will help.
I hope everything is going well with your whole crew. Are you still nursing the twins?
