Thrill of the Slow Speed Chase

Cogency

I’ve never been good at sales.  My brother is quite the schmoozer; not only could he sell ice to eskimos, but they’d name their firstborn after him, and send him a tin of Christmas cookies every year.  I know some theorize such skills must run in families, but if so, that particular gene sequence certainly skipped over me entirely.  He ( Read more... )

I enjoyed learning how Minion's nickname came about. Also loved the idea of your nerd wedding. I had a semi-nerdy wedding also, but you know that didn't turn out so well for me. :)

Thanks!

I'm sorry things went so wrongly with your ex. I didn't go so far as to marry the abusive person I had been involved with prior to Minion, but we were entirely too dysfunctional together for quite a long time in a way that wrecked me for a good while afterwords (and for sure, throughout the duration of our association). In that respect, I can relate to some of what you've experienced. I imagine we would have had a nerdy wedding too, if we'd have gone that route.

But Minion came along after the fact as I was recovering from that toxic situation, so I'm glad I got away from it before we'd taken any extreme wrong turns that couldn't be undone. There's a part of me that wishes for you that you had, also, but I can't wish anything on a loving mother that would undo the blessing of her children, so the best I can hope for is that you and they together come out on top of all this when all the dust settles. <3

I do love a good happily ever after! Especially the realistic “happily ever after, every now and then” sort. Have you ever heard that Jimmy Buffett song:

Some people never find it
Some only pretend
I’m just glad to live happily ever after
Every now and then

?

Seems like it applies.

I haven't heard it, but I do love the sentiment! :-)
