Personal histories are all I've been sharing this season... the trick is finding the right tidbit to fit to each prompt! ;-)

How lovely a story. I’m so sorry you had to go through the chaos of your early life, but so glad for the family that found you and took you on that long drive home.

Thank you very much, but there's really no need to be sorry for me... What's past is behind me, but the trials that galvanize us give us the strength to power us through the struggles to come, so I've learned to be grateful for being prepared by my experiences. And I'm okay with where my life has landed, so I can't complain! ;-)

My mind went right to “the way-back” as a reference to the back part of a car too! When my twins joined us, I had to get rid of my tiny little car because it wouldn’t fit two car seats with the driver’s seat pushed far enough back for my 6’5” frame, and we went the modern station wagon route, with a Chevy HHR which had quite the way-back in it, but no built in seats. What a great frame you made of the prompt here for a tale of growing up!

We now have a station wagon AND a minivan, and we only have the ONE baby, so I can't imagine what my folks were thinking with 4 kids... I guess maybe it was a timing thing? I thought of this option immediately, as well as Mr. Peabody and Sherman's "way back machine," so this story felt a little like combining both, since I am going "way back" to my childhood (which is how I came up with that unusual intro... it's just where my mind went! XD)

I remember a few of those older cars! Thanks for sharing your story about them and your family.

Having spent so many years with my brother in "the way back," this is just where my mind went to. ;-)

Thanks! :-)

It's usually a good thing when a willing and able family is in a position to choose to take on a child in need. My family and I had some bumps in the road along the way, as I guess all families do, but we've put some rocky times behind us, and have come around to settling on a kind of closeness in our more mellow years. <3
