THE LONG ROAD

My husband and I have been losing sleep lately, trying to convince our boy he’s not a vampire.  It’s not just the biting, and the refusing to eat people food, though, certainly those are problems worth addressing.  But how do you make a 3-yr-old understand abstract concepts like, we are diurnal creatures, child - humans are designed ( Read more... )

I absolutely love this and I want to be able to share with my son all my stories too. I really like all your ideas for your stories and I hope you get to tell them to him one day!

Thank you. I'm sure I will tell them... whether or not I continue here won't change that, but it might impact the timing here. I started a blog to my son before he was born... I didn't do a great job of keeping up with it, but I hope to get back to it by the time he's old enough to begin reading and comprehending such things. I hope you can find the time to make it work, too... it can be a really useful and rewarding tool for your entire family.

I loved everything about this, but especially "My husband and I have been losing sleep lately, trying to convince our boy he’s not a vampire." Who wouldn't want to read an entry with that for a beginning? The second to last paragraph is also wonderful. I remember the loss of sleep when our children were tiny.

Thank you... I was hoping that would be a grabber. It sprang from when I was talking to him in the crib the other night around somewhere between 4 and 5am and heard myself saying, "Child! You are not a vampire! You're supposed to sleep AT NIGHT, not during the day!" And, well, 3 isn't tiny, but between the occasional regression, and the craziness of the adjustments the house arrest of quarantine lockdown has wreaked on our schedule, we're just trying to find a balance. I think we're close to having righted this, now... we've only had a couple nights in the last couple weeks that were upside down, so it is getting better. I'm glad you liked this, and thanks for saying so! <3

I love just reading your lists of ideas. There are so many fascinating things just in those little snippets that I want to know so much more of.

But, ughh, I'm sorry to hear about Firebird's (lack of) sleep schedule. That is crazy rough, and I hope you can get more sleep soon!

Thanks! I was hoping one or two of them might capture enough interest for me to know what to shoot for in upcoming topics, though, it's hard to know at this point whether or not I'll be continuing into the next stretch... guess I'm holding my breath until the big reveal! We are working on righting his schedule, and I think we may be almost there, so, fingers crossed! And thanks for dropping in! <3
