I've almost come to expect some sort of outbreak of moral outrage every time a new edition of Dear Lorena's advice column comes out. I am quite irritated by this particular edition, but not for the reason the rest of you seem to be. In fact, I have a question for the populace at large.

What I can't undestand is how she keeps writing like this despite the negative feedback.

There's no such thing as bad publicity. It's highly likely that the negative publicity increases her readership. It's a flawed system, but one we're forced to deal with.

Or unless they were simply that stupid.

Eh. People just want to have people agree with them. They get all pouty about that old witch, a bunch of people agree with them, and then they feel good about themselves because people are agreeing with them. It's just a positive feedback loop.

It's kind of sad to me, really, but it does seem like people really should turn to family and friends before a stranger, and one known for prejudice at that. Maybe they just don't feel they have anyone else.

But then, I hope they're not surprised with the answers they get either.
